RADICAL PC – 2 is a randomized, controlled trial of a systematic approach to modifying cardiovascular and lifestyle risk factors in men with a new diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Objectives
  • To determine whether a routine referral of patients with prostate cancer to a cardiologist/internist- to implement a systematic cardiovascular risk factor strategy- would improve risk factor control and reduce adverse CV outcomes compared with usual care.
  • To identify easily recognizable clinical subgroups that might benefit most from this intervention.
Publications from RADICAL PC 2

The findings were presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress by Darryl Leong, principal investigator of the study and senior scientist.

A companion study, led by research fellow Cristina Cano Garcia, was simultaneously published in JACC: CardioOncology. The analysis identified the subgroup of prostate cancer patients most likely to benefit from routine referral to a cardiovascular specialist.
