Every researcher wants his/her work to ultimately result in real change such as better patient outcomes or updated health policy. PHRI is focused on how to support our research being translated into practice.
As such, we are partnering with the Centre for Evidence-Based Implementation (CEBI) to offer our investigators and study teams consultation and support for research dissemination strategy and knowledge translation (KT) activities.
CEBI was established by Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) in 2016, with the goal of improving patient care by optimizing the use of clinical and implementation science research to address evidence-practice gaps in HHS hospitals and the surrounding community.
JD Schwalm, a PHRI Scientist, is Director of CEBI. He is a principal investigator in the Knowledge Translation and Health Systems research program at PHRI, as well as an Associate Professor, Department of Medicine (cardiology), McMaster University, and an interventional cardiologist at HHS.
The CEBI program provides prioritized PHRI study teams with assistance in:
- Project planning
- Barrier and facilitator analysis
- Selection and design of appropriate KT strategies
- Evaluation of strategies
- Sustainability planning
All PHRI projects are being systematically reviewed by the PHRI Health Policy Advisory working group – made up of PHRI and CEBI leadership – to confirm suitability and priority. See examples of CEBI-led and supported projects in CEBI Summary (PDF).
Support will follow established KT and dissemination approaches and frameworks, such as shown here.
