2020 was a year we will never forget – for the pandemic and its personal threats, for the complete disruption of our lives and for the challenges we had to overcome. However with incredible resilience we have come thought this very difficult period.
The first half of 2021 will likely be just as challenging, but once a large proportion of Canadians are vaccinated, we can gradually restore normalcy – hopefully by summer.
While the road ahead remains challenging, PHRI is tackling 2021 with optimism and hard work, leveraging our global collaborations, and supporting the next generation of researchers to create a brighter future.
We will also continue with our unwavering commitment to improve health through excellence in research in various areas that go beyond our traditional focus on cardiovascular diseases.
We plan to develop new programs in translational research, an innovative program in virtual care and expand our program in infectious diseases.
PHRI remains a tight knit team dedicated to excellence and improving the health of people in Hamilton, Canada, and the world. We all have an important role in helping us fulfilling this vision.
My best wishes to all for 2021 and beyond and, most importantly, please stay safe and healthy.
