The Lifelong Achievements Award for 2020 by the Austrian Society of Cardiology (ASC) goes to Salim Yusuf, Executive Director of PHRI.
Dr. Yusuf will be giving a keynote lecture during the ASC’s annual meeting November 1 – 3, 2020 (postponed from its usual June date due to the pandemic) on the topic of cardiovascular disease prevention.
A collaboration since 2016 between the ASC and the Austrian Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Vascular Surgery, the annual scientific congress is known for its “heart team on the stage” session involving interdisciplinary discussions of complex cases of patients with cardiovascular disease.
The ASC started as a small group of physicians interested in cardiology in 1968, founded by Fritz Kaindl (1922–2015), and grew into the national society which today has 940 members including professionals in cardiovascular (CV) surgery and CV nursing as well as cardiologists.
