When were unable earlier this month to hold our annual company-wide celebration of the contribution milestones of our employees, we took it online; of course, that didn’t work for our customary buffet luncheon!
Like many organizations in 2020, we wondered about the best use of resources when business events are cancelled, and when so many people are in need. This unprecedented year has made it especially challenging for people who struggled before the pandemic was declared, and have suffered growing hardships in the months since.
Our leadership team decided to replace our regular luncheon with organizational contributions to match every dollar that PHRI employees donated to help our neighbours in need – specifically marginalized and vulnerable members of our community in Hamilton, Canada, and nearby Brantford and Halton Region.
Together, we’ve raised a total of $6,040 to date for Wesley, one of the longest standing nonprofits in the region, who will provide hot meals, clothing and other essential items for the vulnerable local populations.
The need will continue to be great in 2021, so we encourage everyone to give support where they can, whether it’s helping those in need locally, nationally or internationally.
