There are many different facets to healthy aging; these facets are changing in recent decades, as we witness a major epidemiological shift as the result of aging populations globally.
Pillars of healthy aging research include: frailty and accumulation of deficits; genetic and biomarker mapping of vulnerabilities; brain health; metabolic awareness, and more. PHRI researchers have been working in those areas for years, and continue to focus on these elements of longevity – both within our institute, as well as nationally and internationally with collaborators on six continents.
